Sanz and Galan survived as much as four match points in the tie-break of the third set, which lasted for 26 (!) points.

It is the first semi-final appearance for the Spaniards, who play together while Galan's normal partner Juan Lebron recovers from his forearm injury.

Ruiz and Tello started on the up, winning the opening set, but could not close out the match as their rivals showed great bouncebackability.

Chingotto and Navarro return to semi-finals in France

Fede Chingotto and Paquito Navarro will face Sanz and Galan in the semi-finals as the four-seed took down Javi Barahona and Javi Garcia Mora earlier on Friday.

Chingotto and Navarro will contest their fourth semi-final together in their seventh tournament as a couple, Navarro not winning a single match all season before turning to the Argentinian.

Barahona and Garcia still look for their first-ever semi, although they are starting to make a habit of reaching the final eight.
