So far, only Carolina Orsi and 'Patty' Llaguno have managed to upset a top-eight seed as they eliminated Aranza Osoro and Lucia Sainz in the round of 32, the others all making it into the quarter-finals.
Orsi and Llaguno did the same, kicking on as they sent Nuria Rodriguez and Mari Carmen Villalba home in straight sets.
Tamara Icardo and Virginia Riera have yet to miss the quarter-finals in all of 2023 and kept their streak alive, beating new couple Alix Collombon and Victoria Iglesias in three long sets.
