All three local heroes took to centre court of the PadelOne Arena in Tampere in front of their adoring home fans, but could not convert it into a shock win against the established elite of World Padel Tour.

There was also a debut for Aranza Osoro and Jessica Castello, the six-seed, who needed a comeback against Carolina Orsi and Carla Mesa - who too were playing their first match together.

Virginia Riera and Tamara Icardo have dropped to being the five-seed with the return of Alejandra Salazar, and therefore have to battle from the first round again. They had the unpopular task of defeating Saana Saarteinen and Ella Sillanpää, both players making their respective World Padel Tour debuts.
