Unable to be separated after 12 games, Stellato and Petrelli took the tie-break with authority 7-6(2).
In the second set, the Italians could get daylight between themselves and Brito and Girdo. They broke and won 6-4, getting themselves in the main draw from pre-qualifying.
Awaiting them in the round of 32 on Tuesday afternoon are Sandra Bellver and Carolina Orsi.
Sharifova/Segura vs Traviesa/Wyckaert
Finally, three nationalities shared the court as Raquel Segura and Russian Ksenia Sharifova faced pre-qualifying duo Nicole Traviesa and Belgian Helena Wyckaert.
