Ortega-Triay dispatch twins, Sainz-Osoro return to semis in Valencia

Marta Ortega and Gemma Triay have beaten Mapi and Majo Sanchez Alayeto 6-3 6-1 in the Adeslas Valencia Open quarter-finals.

Fresh from making their first final last time out in Valladolid, Ortega and Triay still look for their first title together while Triay's partner Alejandra Salazar continues her recovery.

All four players on court 2 had winning experience in Valencia, Triay being the reigning champion at La Fonteta and playing at her best on Friday.

She and Ortega quickly took a hold of the match, and never let go as the Alayeto twins never recovered from going a break down in both sets.

Lucia Sainz / Aranza Osoro vs Claudia Fernandez / Julieta Bidahorria

The next game on court 2 saw Lucia Sainz and Aranza Osoro trying to return to the semi-finals, taking on underdogs Claudia Fernandez and Julieta Bidahorria.

Fernandez and Bidahorria impressively knocked out Delfi Brea and Bea Gonzalez in the round of 16, but could not muster another upset as Sainz and Osoro proved too mighty on Friday.

The seven-seed for the tournament will play its first semi-final in over three months, facing number ones Ariana Sanchez and Paula Josemaria on Saturday.
