Coello and Tapia are still yet to lose since forming as a couple, although Capra and Gutierrez looked candidates to turn that statistic around.

The nine-seed survived seven break points to push the first set to the tie-break, but they eventually fell to the in-form Coello and Tapia, who ran away with the second set after.

The last newly-formed couple to start their partnership off with 11 consecutive wins was in 2015, when Pablo Lima and Fernando Belasteguin formed and went on to dominate World Padel Tour for three consecutive seasons.
